On 4 May, over 40 kilometers of main roads on both sides of the Rhine will be open to non-motorized traffic for the Werdenberg-Liechtenstein slowUp. The circular route leads through the Werdenberg region and the Principality of Liechtenstein and connects the shared living space in an ideal environment for non-motorized traffic. The pedestrian and cycle bridge between Buchs and Schaan divides the slowUp Werdenberg-Liechtenstein into a northern and a southern loop. Regional and national partners as well as local associations provide food, fun and a varied supporting program in all ten slowUp communities.
The organizers are proud to announce that all supporting communities are once again taking part in the national "slowAppetit" campaign. At the heart of the project are slowUp specialties that are regional, seasonal and balanced - from fresh Ribel to a Liechtenstein yellow pea curry and carrot soup from the field next to the route.
Ruggell, the northernmost slowUp municipality, will take on the role of "opening village" for the 2025 edition. The route will be opened together at 10 a.m. at the Küefer-Martis-Huus meeting place. Participation is free and registration is not required. You are free to join and leave the circuit at any time. For safety reasons, the one-way direction is counter-clockwise - from Sennwald to Wartau and from Vaduz to Ruggell. It is recommended that you wear a helmet and appropriate protective equipment.
slowUp (a combination of the words slow down and pleasure up) means enjoyment thanks to leisurely cycling. In addition to the health-promoting exercise, the social aspect is at the heart of this active adventure day. There will be 16 slowUp events throughout Switzerland in 2025.
