Bildungszentrum Sarganserland: Sponsoring association seeks members

An educational campus is to be built in Sargans, similar to the high-tech campus in Buchs. A broad-based supporting association is to drive forward the development in Sarganserland. The association was founded on Wednesday, May 22 at the bzbs vocational and further education center in Sargans. Committed members are being sought.

The Sarganserland-Werdenberg region has been committed to a strong southern education region for years. It includes the Buchs and Sargans locations. While the Werdenberg sub-region is already very well positioned with the Hightech Campus Buchs, the current situation in Sarganserland shows a scattered and partly uncertain future for educational institutions.

Sarganserland education center: a key project for the region

In order to strengthen education in the Sarganserland sub-region, the Sarganserland-Werdenberg region is planning to establish a supporting association to drive forward the development of a new education center in Sargans. This step is crucial in order to centralize the educational landscape locally and create synergies similar to the successful model in Buchs. The Sarganserland Education Center is a key project for the Sarganserland-Werdenberg region. It is intended to increase the quality and diversity of education and thus make the region more attractive for families and companies to live and work in.

Specifically, a regional campus for secondary schools is planned in a strategically favorable location south of Sargans railroad station. Other important educational facilities, such as the vocational and further education center bzbs, are to be integrated on the site of the Sargans cantonal school and the Riet sports hall. A canteen, recreation rooms and various sports facilities will make the campus attractive for young people. How the education center and campus can be structured in detail will be worked out in the coming discussions and meetings.

Anyone who is interested in the development of the educational location is cordially invited to join the "Bildungszentrum Sarganserland" association and become actively involved. The broad support of the association by all municipalities and parties is seen as a decisive success factor.

The founding event of the association took place on Wednesday, 22 May 2024, at 6:30 pm at the Buchs Sargans Vocational and Further Education Center in Sargans. In addition to statements from key decision-makers in the Sarganserland-Werdenberg region and the Sarganserland-Walensee valley community, a feasibility study was presented.
